RODDY GORDON BAND CONCERT

FOLK ~ ROCK ~ CELTIC

Starting out in the 1960s, inspired by many folk and blues singers, Roddy left his home town of Aberdeen, Scotland and headed for London. Over the next few years into the seventies, he made a living playing a variety of venues, including wine bars in Mayfair and Soho, The Hard Rock Café, The Speakeasy and The Marquee as well as playing sessions for the BBC, including Sounds of the Seventies.

Roddy moved to Australia in the late seventies gigging regularly on the club scene and eventually his band became an established act on the Australian country and rock circuit, working with Australian country legends Smokey Dawson and Gordon Parsons and releasing albums Love and Blues in 2008 and C’est La Vie in 2016.

Over a musical career spanning 50 years to date, Roddy has recorded with Gary Moore, Madeline Bell (Blue Mink) and Doris Troy and has had the good fortune to work other top musicians including, Twink (who played with Pretty Things, Pink Fairies, Tomorrow and Hawkwind), Pete Banham (who played with Honeybus, and Peter Green), George Butler (played with Dana Gillespie, Elkie Brooks and Robert Palmer), bassist Robin Sylvester and Pete Barden (Camel).

Backing vocalist and song-writer Jane Gordon has been gigging with Roddy now for over 25 years, playing bass and guitar.

Now back living in the UK since 2018, Roddy and Jane will be rockin’ Horncliffe with some great music and possibly a few tales from an interesting musical career…
