On Sunday January 12th 2020 around a hundred people joined the procession to carry willow salmon around the village on a moonlit winter evening.
Accompanied by traditional music provided by Keith Giddens and Graham Ambrose the procession started at the village play park and - led by local artist William Hamilton - visited various locations in the village to toast the salmon and sing the Salmon Song.
Fire Starter Neill Berry ensured that a roaring fire was ready at the playing field for the ceremonial burning of the salmon, presided over by Chief Fisher Louise Giddens.
A memorable party atmosphere continued throughout the evening with a bar provided by Dave Goodwin from the Fisher’s Arms and food from the village Veg Shed and this years main sponsor Farne Salmon.
By the end of the night everyone was up on their feet and dancing to Horncliffe’s now legendary Salmon City Blues Band. Another great night of fun in Horncliffe!
